Local Cellist wins Lions’ National Music Competition.
Now for the European Final!
Romiley and Marple Lions have sponsored local cellist George Hoult in the Lions’ Music Competition 2012 and George won the first part of the competition in Oswestry against stiff opposition from three other young cellists. He went on to win the National Competition at the Birmingham Conservatoire on April 15 competing with ten finalists. He will now be competing in Brussels representing the UK and Ireland at the Lions Europa Forum in September 2012.
George is 21 and lives in Mellor. He was schooled at Marple Hall and Aquinas College before winning a place at the Royal Northern College of Music where he is studying for a degree in Cello Performance under the famed musician Nichols Trystad who is Principal Cellist with the Halle Orchestra.
Romiley and Marple Lions would like to wish George all the best for the European FInals and for what will surely be, a glittering career.
