Romiley and Marple Lions have supported the local appeal for improvements to the Park at Tangshutts Fields in Romiley. Lions were in attendance at a recent Open Day and Lion George Tavener helped the proceedings along by playing the bagpipes.

The Friends of Romiley Park and the Friends of Tangshutt joined forces to submit a joint bid to secure funding to install new outdoor gym equipment alongside the Safer Route to School.

Funding came from The Veolia Environmental Trust through the Landfill Communities Fund. The two Friends groups raised the additional money to enable the scheme to proceed - Romiley and Marple Lions Club donated £500 which was increased to £1,500 through the 'x marks the spot' funding seheme.

Chantal Johnson, from the Friends of Tangshutt, said: “The Friends of Tangshutt are very happy their vision to help people get fit for free in their green space has been fruitful.
